How to Style a Console Table

A console table is one of those furniture items that can go anywhere in the home. It’s both versatile and timeless as well as a practical storage solution. Whether you have a hallway lacking some storage or a room that’s simply missing something then read on for styling tips for console tables.

Types of Console Tables

From slim and minimal to wooden and rattan we have an extensive selection of console tables designed to serve as a handy storage solution for hallway clutter, often including a shelf for shoes. Other consoles can be used as side tables or as a small shelf to simply elevate a room or create a spot to pop your keys. Our selection of console tables feature classic styles such as the Bampton and Chatsworth complete with drawers and shelves to wooden consoles like the Willow. We also feature black console tables like the Rayna with a striking Art Deco inspired design. For a contemporary look, we have a range of marble and concrete effect narrow console tables.

Where do you want your console table to go? Often, they tend to live in the hallway and against a wall, making them ideal for storing shoes and boots on the shelf. If your hallway is particularly lacking space, then you could use a radiator cover to create a small surface. Add a trinket dish for keys and a small lamp to create the look of an entryway table

Using a console table with drawers like the Ines is ideal for a bedroom. Ines is part of our new season collection and is finished in a taupe hue with elegant gold hardware, making this a beautiful console table for a bedroom

A console table can be used anywhere in the home, they are often narrow in design meaning they can fit along walls or in an alcove. Make a statement with a hallway console table by creating a focal point. Position a small console table under a window or hang a classic round mirror above the console, or opt for an arch mirror which can be both stylish and practical in a hallway.

Style your console table with beautiful pieces to really show your personality and interior style. Create a styled tabletop by playing with accessories in different proportions like position a decorative bowl in the centre with tall vases or photos in elegant frames at either end. Create a colour story by hanging beautiful wall art prints on the wall above the console and using similar tones with accessories in the same space. If you are using a console with a shelf for storage options then choose stylish baskets to store bits and bobs so they tie in with the overall scheme.

Lighting

Adding a small table lamp or a large statement lamp can elevate a console table and add a cosy look. Opt for a smaller lamp if you are creating a vignette with other small pieces including a candle, a unique decorative object and maybe some stacked books. If your console is in an open plan space and is not against a wall, then a small portable light like the Brockhill rechargeable table lamp work well. Plus, no visible wires will make this look aesthetically pleasing. Keep you console styling minimal if you want to use a large lamp at one end, try pairing it with a house plant of a similar height for balance.
