The Benefits of Radiator Covers

The Benefits of Radiator Covers

Elevating your home with radiator covers is a simple and cost-effective solution to hiding unsightly radiators that do not blend with your home aesthetic. Radiators come in all shapes and sizes depending on the age and style of your home, and their job is to heat our homes thoroughly. If you’re thinking of investing in modern radiator covers for your home then read on to discover the benefits of installing radiator covers.

Safety

Radiator covers offer an element of safety, especially if you have young children in the house. Having a radiator cover will protect little hands from touching or stumbling into an extremely hot radiator. Having all household radiators protected will give you peace of mind.

Affordability

Radiator covers are a much more affordable way to elevate the look of your home than investing in brand new radiators for every room in your house. Unless you are doing a big renovation and have the budget to replace radiators, you tend to inherit the radiators that are already in place when you move into a property. Radiators are a practical necessity but do not always blend with interior aesthetics.

A stylish radiator cover also creates a little extra surface space where you can style accessories, display photos, artwork or add or scented candle for an inviting homely look. This is ideal for a hallway, where space might be minimal, but you can still have a small area to pop a trinket dish or small tray for keys

Anything covering a heat source is going to block it, however a well-ventilated radiator cover means any loss of heat will be minimal. There are a few things you can do to maximise the heat from your radiator behind a radiator cover. Firstly, keep the area in front of the radiator clear. Large furniture items such as sofas or sideboards can prevent the heat circulating fully if placed in front of the radiator.

The cover should be a few centimetres wider and taller than the radiator to help with this. You can read more about this in our radiator cover buying guide

How To Remove a Radiator cover

To remove the cover from a radiator, ensure that the heating is off and the radiator has cooled down. If the radiator cover is secured to the wall, then locate the fastenings and use the correct tools to loosen screws or remove fastenings. Once any attachments have been released, the radiator cover should lift off easily. All Laura James radiator covers are free standing; however, they do come with wall brackets if you would prefer to secure them in place.
