Ways to Bring the Indoors Outside with Laura James
With summer on the horizon, it’s time to start planning your dream garden set up. Spending time outdoors is so important and can really improve our overall wellbeing. During these last few years creating our own outdoor haven has become just as essential as making the inside of our homes look good. Think of your garden as an extension of your home and here are a few ways to bring your interior style outside. There is so much creative potential to unleash your own style in a garden, no matter how big or small.
Garden Design
Like you would with your home, consider how you will use the space. Does your garden have a particular sunny spot, do you want more greenery or need storage? For instance, do you enjoy cooking and entertaining? If yes, then a dining table set is a must-have. Perhaps you need to factor in a play zone for children, or maybe just a space to relax. Think about how you want the garden to work for you.
A neutral colour palette of calming greys and natural tones compliment nature and greenery beautifully. Using wooden and rattan furniture are ideal for creating a relaxed nature-inspired setting. These colours and materials are long lasting meaning you won’t need to redesign your garden every year.
Add Furniture
One of the key elements in creating that indoor outdoor space is garden furniture. Choose a hero piece as you would in your living room whether it’s a large dining table, a corner sofa or a few comfy chairs and a coffee table. If you like to cook up a feast on the barbeque, then a generous outdoor dining table is the perfect solution. The Lennox table features beautiful wooden slat designed in acacia wood, and wouldn’t look out of place inside the home too. If you have a smaller garden, then you can still entertain your guests by creating your own bar area and using bar stools rather than a large dining table.
For a more relaxed look why not use modular seating, this way you have the flexibility to arrange your sofa as and when you need to. Adding a standalone piece like an accent chair or hanging chair will bring the space together like a room.
Think About Evenings
Sometimes here in the UK we are lucky enough to have a few barmy evenings over the duration of the summer and you may want to spend some evenings outside. You can still create a cosy atmosphere if you’re outdoors. Set the mood with garden lighting; opt for an LED lit parasol, festoon lights strung over a courtyard or solar powered lights dotted around the garden. For extra warmth a toasty firepit would make a stylish feature.
All Important Final Touches
To create a welcoming space that is just as inviting as the inside of your home use accessories to show your personal style and really bring the look together. From garden rugs to cushions and throws; adding texture and pattern will truly offer an extension of the interior style from your home. Oversized floor cushions will create a relaxed living room feel and a rug will anchor the space. You could even hang a mirror in the garden for a focal point. Arrange pots with different height plants for a thoughtful look and candles and lanterns will create a stylish hotel inspired feel that you will love to relax in.
