Entertaining Tips for Bank Holiday Weekend

Entertaining Tips for Bank Holiday Weekend

The Bank Holiday weekend is the perfect time to get together with friends and family. With the weather looking bright and warm why not celebrate the long weekend with plenty of food, drinks, and good company in the sunshine. If you’re hosting a garden party, drinks or keeping it low key, here are a few tips to help you prepare.

Spruce Up the Spare Room

If you have overnight visitors staying for the weekend, then ensure you have a comfortable place for them to stay. Whether you have a dedicated room with a guest bed or a pull out sofa bed like our Una 2 seater sofa bed in the study, create a relaxing space for your guests.

Make an inviting space with a side table or bedside table and complete the room with a lamp and vase of flowers to make your guests feel welcome. Free up any plugs too so that your guests can use them to charge their phones.

Take some time to organise and tidy your outside space in preparation for guests. Cut the grass, clear the patio, dust off the garden cushions and declutter any bits and bobs in the garden. Invest in some practical handy storage that’s accessible like our outdoor cushion storage box, which offers a place to store smaller items but also doubles up as a bench to sit on.

Garden Party

There are plenty of ways to entertain outdoors, from classic barbeques to afternoon tea, set the scene with a fun tablescape and use accessories like flowers, candles and decorative outdoor lanterns to introduce colour and elements of fun. Opt for a round dining table like the Shiro dining set with pink Hali chairs, for relaxed al fresco dining. Alternatively, choose a rectangular set with wooden matching chairs for a classic look like the Lennox dining set.

An outside living space is the perfect way to entertain your guests with a few drinks and nibbles if you prefer to keep things casual. Think of it as a living room and use pieces to elevate the space, a garden side table like the terrazzo Zaliki table looks stylish and makes a handy extra surface. Add a cushion or two and a garden rug to bring a splash of colour and pattern to the outdoor living space.
